Simple syrup, it really is simple!
1 qt sugar
1 qt water
½ lb fresh strawberries
small handful basil
First start by bringing the quart of water to a boil, (you can add a little bit more water to account for evaporation). Next add sugar, strawberries and basil. Let this mixture cook for about 20-30 minutes until the liquid begins to turn pink. For best results jar mixture for 24 hours and then strain. Voilà! It really is simple. Simple syrup is perishable so don’t forget to refrigerate!
1 Muddled whole strawberry
2 oz Crop Meyer Lemon Organic Vodka
1 ½ oz lemon juice
1 ½ oz strawberry basil simple syrup
finish with splash of soda
Now the fun part, start with a pint glass and muddle a fresh strawberry, next add vodka, lemon juice, and strawberry basil simple syrup. Give it a fun shakes, pour over rocks, and finish with a splash soda and lemon wheel! Unbelievably refreshing!
